Apperson's DataLink™ is the software that makes possible the powerful reporting and analysis features of our Apperson scanners. DataLink™ also exports test results data to your PC or Mac. The list below is a compilation of frequently-asked questions about DataLink.™

Please note that the FAQs below only apply to the PC version. We are currently working on FAQs for the Mac version. Thank you for your patience.

What is DataLink™?
DataLink™ is a free test scoring and data collection software application that is included with your Apperson scanner. DataLink™ allows you to turn your paper-based tests into electronic data and provides access to useful reports as well as provides the ability to export your data to 3rd party software like gradebook applications.
Where Can I Get a Copy of DataLink™?

How is DataLink Licensed?
DataLink is free. You are free to use DataLink with your compatible Apperson scanner. If you did not receive a CD with your scanner you can download a copy of DataLink from the link above.
What do I need to use DataLink™?
A PC running Windows 2000 or newer or a Macintosh running OSX 10.4 or newer are required to run DataLink. Additionally you will need a USB cable or serial cable to connect your compatible Apperson scanner to your computer.
What Gradebooks does DataLink™ work with?
DataLink™ allows for your scanned test scores to be exported into other gradebook programs. Currently DataLink™ will export grades to: ANGEL, Blackboard, Class Mate Gradebook, Curriculum Associates - CTAP, Easy Grade Pro, EnGrade, eSembler, Excelsior, Gradekeeper, GradeSpeed, InteGrade Pro, Jackson GradeQuick, JupiterGrades, LimeLight/LearningStation, LXR, MicroGrade, NeoGov, People's Education Measuring Up e-Path, Pinnacle, PowerTeacher, ProgressBook, Sakai Gradebook2, SchoolLoop, SchoolMaster, and Skyward.

Will DataLink™ 4 work with my scanner?
DataLink works with Advantage 1200, GradeMaster 600 and BenchMark 3000 scanners.
What reports are available?
DataLink™ provides instant reports. As soon as the last test is scanned you can click the reports icon to access reports such as: Item Analysis, Class Roster, Score Cards, Test Results and a Histogram. If standards are aligned to test questions you will be able to access more reports such as: Class Proficiency, Student Proficiency, Standards Alignment, Non-Proficient Students by Group, Non-Proficient Students by Standard. If you have created subtests you will also have reports for Subtest Scores, Subtest Alignment and Lowest scoring Students by Subtest. Reports can be viewed and printed from DataLink™ or exported to Excel.
What are the computer system requirements for downloading DataLink 4?
For Windows computers: A PC running Windows 2000 or newer.
For Macintosh computers: A Macintosh running OSX 10.4 or newer.
